Digital nomad: where to travel this summer?

Summer is a great time to travel, with the possibility of working remotely. A survey was carried out by the website webworktravel.com to determine where digital nomads plan to live and telework this summer 2023. Here are the destinations that attract the most digital nomads for this summer.

  • Spain, it is the first destination that welcomes the most digital nomads and it is one of the most visited countries in the world. The city of Barcelona and the Canary Islands are the most popular places for the nomadic lifestyle. Spain is very popular for its cultural heritage, its beaches, its gastronomy as well as its international festivals.
  •  Thailand comes in second place. Chiang Mai city is known as the digital nomad capital of the world. A visa for digital nomads has existed for several years. The conditions for obtaining it are quite demanding and selective. These requirements concern in particular the status of the worker as well as being in possession of a minimum financial capital. This destination appeals for its lifestyle, its low cost of living and its excellent wifi connection.
  • United States attract for their diverse landscapes, the quality of life and the richness of the territories. Indeed, your experience can lead you to discover many places and must-sees over several months. Florida, California, Hawaii are chosen by digital nomads for more relaxation and to enjoy seaside resorts. Washington, Denver, Austin and New York attract for nightlife and culture.

We see that European countries are adapting to welcoming digital nomads. Travel formalities are developed to enable most nationalities to obtain a visa or remain visa-free for a specified period. Several destinations in Europe are popular with digital nomads.

There Bulgaria, notably the village of Bansko, where a community of digital nomads is growing, for its coworking.

THE Portugal offers a digital nomad visa and can allow you to obtain a temporary residence visa. The city of Lisbon is pleasant to live and work. A “digital nomad village” is located in the Madeira archipelago.

Italy can allow you to realize your project and you will be able to live your experience for 1 year. Its landscapes, its culture, its ancient history and its gastronomy are its strong points.

If you want to go further afield, for a change of scenery as well as to discover other world cultures, Indonesia and Central America are trendy destinations for this summer.

Bali has been a trendy destination for many years. It continues to welcome so many business travelers, mainly entrepreneurs or digital nomads. This archipelago attracts a community of digital nomads, which therefore allows for cohesion and many meetings with other remote workers. The beauty of the landscapes, the beaches, the climate and the culture make this destination a little paradise.

Mexico allows digital nomads to stay for 1 year with the temporary residence visa, which is renewable for up to 3 additional years. It is an exotic destination, with its seaside resorts, its gastronomy, its heavenly beaches, its exotic markets and its low cost of living. Due to its large number of digital nomads, it is advisable to go to cities other than Mexico City. Guadalajara is the 4th largest city in the country, it is a more peaceful city.
